When you ask a Klooker about their typical day at work, you’ve got a 100% chance they’ll answer something along the lines of “There’s no typical day here” or “Each day at Klook is different”. And while that’s true, it’s also soooooo unsatisfying if you’re trying to figure out if Klook is the right place for you! So in this series, Klookers take us along on one of their (un)typical days at work — no excuses.

Hello and Selamat pagi from Kuala Lumpur everyone!
My WFH (work from home) day starts with the most important meal of the day. I’m having one of Malaysia’s staple breakfast: dim sum and Char Kuey Teow with a cup of Teh Tarik.

I kickstart the day by checking Asana, email and instant messenger to prioritize my to-do list for the day. As a Senior IT officer, I’m the go-to contact when it comes to any IT inquiries: from tool access to rolling out new tools and updating systems.
I like to say that working in IT is like wearing the cloak of invisibility (can you tell I’m a Harry Potter fan?): we do a lot of heavy lifting behind the scenes so that everyone can do their work without any interruption.
But this doesn’t mean it’s a lonely role! As an IT officer, you’re one of the first faces that welcome new joiners during their onboarding. And that’s just the start, we work with all teams at Klook to roll out tools, educate and troubleshoot.

This is the time I usually have meetings and catchups (these days usually on a video call but here's a photo of us in the office). My teammates are based in different locations around the world but we work together to support Klookers globally. We are a small team so we keep in close touch and help each other.
Our team works closest with the Security team, People & Culture team and… this may surprise you, the Legal team. This is because when we analyse new tools, we assess them from all angles to make sure they’re safe and make Klook operations smoother.

I love cooking so during lunchtime I prepare something quick and easy at home. Some days, I might sneak in a quick power nap too!

Back to work! In the afternoon I have more meetings and catch-ups. I also run remote troubleshooting sessions to resolve computer-related issues that Klookers are facing. Our Kuala Lumpur office is currently working from home and I only come into the office in rare cases when it’s really needed (and I'm always happy to see this view again!).

Time for a little pick me up! I make a coffee and have a quick bite of a homemade brownie garnished with strawberry because why not? Presentation is everything!

My dog Shin Chan is giving me begging eyes so I take a break to walk him. Shin Chan is a very entertaining WFH companion (and I like to think that I provide some entertainment for him too).

Late afternoon is when Klookers in Europe and the US log on so this is my window to do any troubleshooting with them. But most days, this is the quiet time I can spend working on optimization projects.
I’m currently working on optimizing Zendesk which is the tool we use for receiving requests from Klookers. Basically, when an employee needs our support, they can reach the IT team through a ticket sent via Zendesk. I’m looking into optimizing the process so we can provide a better service and shorten our response time.

Done for the day! I unwind with this beautiful view straight from my balcony and recharge for more adventures tomorrow.
