When you ask a Klooker about their typical day at work, you’ve got a 100% chance they’ll answer something along the lines of “There’s no typical day here” or “Each day at Klook is different”. And while that’s true, it’s also soooooo unsatisfying if you’re trying to figure out if Klook is the right place for you! So in this series, Klookers take us along on one of their (un)typical days at work — no excuses.
Today, Luke Ashall, Business Development Manager, shows us what his day as the only Klooker in New Zealand looks like.
08:00
I’m not an early riser by any stretch, but luckily I don’t live too far away from the office. I always make sure I have a good breakfast, otherwise I get grumpy later in the day.
08:30
I have a really scenic drive and I am lucky that I get to see such great views on my drive into the office. Seeing the mountains puts me in a good mood for the day.
09:00
Time to start getting sorted for the day. I make a to-do list and start calling prospective merchant partners to tell them about Klook. In addition to that, I work on building relationships with existing partners. For example, I help them increase their conversion (how many lookers end up booking the activity) or try to source an exclusive deal so we have the best price for our customers. One of the things I enjoy most is helping partners, especially during the pandemic, to connect their products to our customers.
My area of focus as a Business Development Manager is Experiences in New Zealand, so I have a whole country to look after. Some of the products I recently onboarded included private cedar hot tubs in a forest in Rotorua or a full day canyoning in Queenstown, so quite unique experiences.
10:30
I’m really lucky with our office space. As I am the only Klooker to work in New Zealand, I work from a shared office where I get to connect with people from all different industries. There’s free coffee which keeps me caffeinated and we have drinks every Thursday!
13:00
I like to go out for a walk at lunch time, it’s great to get fresh air!
14:00
My colleague Raquel in Sydney and I are hosting a webinar for all our partners across New Zealand and Australia, the topic is improving conversion with Klook. I’ve done many face-to-face workshops before but this is my first time hosting a webinar. It just goes to show you how you can pull together partner events even during a pandemic.
We got over 30 attendees, so we are pretty happy! We’re going to look into scaling the webinars in the future, perhaps by doing smaller bitesize sessions more frequently.
17:00
Time for our team meeting, our team spans across 3 offices, Queenstown, Sydney and Shenzhen. Despite the distance, we are all really close and work together really well.
What would your untypical day at Klook look like?
