Ask any Klooker about a travel-and-work perk at Klook, and 'Workcation' will likely be the first thing that comes to mind. At Klook, we unlock this perk after celebrating our first Klookiversary (Klook lingo for work anniversary).
Blending work and exploration, Klookers can decide on the Klook office destination of their choice, book their tickets, and plan their itinerary — off they go on a workcation for up to 14 days! Through their workcation, they not only experience the joy of travel, but also form newer or deeper relationships with other Klookers based overseas, gain new perspectives, and even uncover cross-team collaboration opportunities.
Generous as they are, some of our Klookers shared their workcation highlights in their own words, including how they spent their workcation subsidy on our Klook app. Let's hear from them!

This trip is extra special to me as it marks my first workcation and getaway with just my mother. After watching so many Korea travel videos, I finally made it there myself. What a beautiful country with warm-hearted people, incredible food and a rich culture!
During my trip, I had the chance to visit iconic spots, including Hongdae, Myeongdong, Gyeongbokgung, Jeonju Hanok Village, Jangtaesan, and Gangnam. A big thank you to Klook for making it all even better! It was my first time joining a day tour to Jangtaesan and Jeonju Hanok Village, and it was such a fun experience. The airport transfer service was also a lifesaver, making the entire trip hassle-free. Honestly, I can't imagine hauling heavy luggage on public transport for two people – what a relief!
I’m incredibly grateful to all the Klookers in Korea who welcomed me so kindly, showing me around, and making me feel at home. They introduced me to Korean dumpling noodles and milk ice cream. I learned so much about their culture and how they spend their workdays, and had the chance to finally put faces to the names we often see on our workplace chat app Lark. I’m already looking forward to my next workcation!

I was lucky to be one of the workcationers at the Tokyo office back in early December! Before joining Klook, I'd always dreamt about what it'd be like to work remotely from Japan, and a year later, that dream came true!
I took advantage of the many phone booths at the WeWork office and the lounge areas on different floors. I got to say hi to some of our colleagues from Osaka, who were also coincidentally there on a business trip! With it being located at the heart of Shinjuku, I got to explore some of the yummy cafes and restaurants around the area like Matcha Tokyo and Tempura Shinjuku Tsunahachi.
Of course, the better half of workcation is the 'cation part. It wasn't all work and no play. There were many things to do around Shinjuku, especially in Kabukicho, Shinjuku's red-light district. We bar-hopped some izakayas, got to go clubbing (for free!) through Klook, and enjoyed a nice city view from above at the famous Godzilla hotel, Hotel Gracery Shinjuku.
Last but not least, this experience has allowed me to become more of a global citizen by practicing Japanese a lot more (outside of Duolingo) and meeting familiar faces online in real life!

What an incredible opportunity to immerse myself in a new work environment, collaborate with brilliant colleagues, and experience Klook's vibrant culture firsthand at the Klook Jakarta office through workcation! From casual chats with my Indonesian colleague about product improvements and the best spots in Jakarta to indulging in mouthwatering local dishes like otak-otak and ayam penyet with the team during lunch breaks — and even celebrating a teammate’s birthday on my second day — this workcation was the perfect blend of professional growth and cultural discovery.
Why Jakarta? As someone who treasures the little things — especially different cultures and environments — every moment in this city felt special. From savoring local flavors to shopping for affordable, high-quality local brands, Jakarta’s energy and diversity were truly inspiring. Not only that, but I also had the chance to visit Bandung using the Panoramic train and return by Whoosh train which is the fastest in Southeast Asia! The scenic views and modern travel experience added an extra layer of excitement to my journey.
Working in the heart of this bustling city reminded me of the power of global collaboration and how fresh perspectives come from embracing new settings. It’s amazing how much you can learn and grow when you step outside your comfort zone!

I went to Japan for a workcation last October and I had an amazing time. The Tokyo office is located in Shinjuku, which I believe is the busiest area in the city, and I enjoyed a fantastic view from my seat.
Fortunately, my workcation coincided with Halloween, so I got to experience the festive atmosphere in Japan. The streets of Tokyo were adorned with Halloween decorations, and I saw many cosplayers. On Halloween itself, I visited the famous Shibuya Crossing, which I had always been curious about after seeing it in Detective Conan.
Throughout my workcation, I created countless cherished memories. I explored Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto. At Yasaka Shrine, I drew a 'Sue-kichi' (末吉) fortune slip, although I’m still not entirely sure what it means. In Kyoto, I picked up a protective charm (omamori) for my cats, hoping it would keep them safe. In Tokyo, I fulfilled one of my lifelong dreams by attending a concert by my favorite singer at the Dome.
I also experienced the daily routine of commuting on the Tokyo subway in the mornings, grabbing self-serve coffee from a convenience store, enjoying delicious ramen for lunch in an office building, taking leisurely walks along the riverside after work, and stopping by a gacha shop to play with capsule toys. While this routine is somewhat similar to my life in Shenzhen, doing these things in Tokyo felt refreshingly new and exciting.
One interesting moment was when I purchased a Shinkansen ticket from Osaka to Tokyo through Klook. They kindly reminded me of the best time to catch a glimpse of Mount Fuji during the ride, which was incredibly thoughtful. Using the Shinkansen was convenient, and I was delighted to discover that the girl sitting in front of me had also booked her ticket through Klook—this made me feel quite proud!
At the end of my workcation, I received a special Tokyo badge as a gift, which I truly treasure. Overall, it was an unparalleled workcation experience!

I was so lucky to witness Korea's first snowfall during my workcation! And happy to collect the Klook "SEOUL" pin!
My first time visiting Korea was a fascinating experience. I immersed myself in a new environment with a foreign language and working alongside Koreans. Looking out the office window, the view was breathtaking. The autumn leaves combined with the snow made me feel like I had suddenly stepped into a K-drama, which was so surreal!
What stood out to me was how dedicated Koreans are to their work. The only sound in the office was the typing of keyboards, and it was only during lunchtime that people started chatting. Around 4 PM, the sky went dark; by 5 PM Korea time, the sky looked like it was 8 PM in Malaysia. It made me want to go to bed early and rise with the crack of dawn, which came quite early there as well. What surprised me even more was that when I visited Myeongdong at 10:30 PM, everything was already closed, while in Kuala Lumpur, we could still find something fun at that hour.
I’m incredibly grateful to my Korean colleagues for their care. Before my trip, they sent me slides about local attractions, transportation, and hotels near the company, which made me feel reassured. When I arrived in Korea, I received messages confirming my work schedule, and when I got to the office, my desk had a "WELCOME TAO TIAN" sign, which was so heartwarming!
